In 2015, I was appointed the NDP Critic for Youth. My role is to defend the interests of young people and to raise issues that concern them in the House.
I’ve met with many young people and organizations that work with youth. Far from the stereotype of disenfranchised youth, the young people I’ve met have been open, involved in their communities and determined to make Canada a fairer country. These meetings helped me identify the primary barriers and concerns of the younger generation.
I will be conducting a tour to talk to young people about these issues. I want to meet young Quebeckers face to face to hear what they have to say. We need to work hand in hand with the younger generation and give young people the power to influence our public policies.
In November 2016, I kicked off this tour in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, a city in my riding, to talk about emerging artists.
